Hey all

Fitted the Lorinser RSK5's on my 500E yesterday and the fronts are touching...

They are 9J on front, et44 with a 22mm spacer. Have to use this size of spacer as it just about clears the brake caliper and strut.

Tyres are 255/45/17 on the front which I suspect is the problem. Plus they are Michelin's and very very chunky.

Can anyone recommend the right tyre size for the front of the 500e? I have heard 245/45 or 245/40 should work off another forum but want to double check as folk on here run various sizes on w124's.

Not fitted the rears yet but hopefully they should be ok with the 10J on 255/45 alloys.

Cheers

Depending on how low your car is I would be thinking of a 235/40/17 front, with a 265 or 275/35/17 rear.

Bill:I've some 245/45 here if you want to try them

Bill, the problem you have is the extreme ETs on those alloys. ET44 with 22mm spacers equates to ET22, 500E stock rims (8holes and Evos) are et34. Ok yours are wider at 9J ,which leads you think that you should go wider i.e 255s as they came with.. Not necessarily because as you are experiencing now, the further out you have 'em, which you need to do in order to clear the brakes and possibly struts, the tyres will fill the arches or in your case rub! Remember, E500Es are nose heavy coz of that weighty 119 , so clearance is tiny in the first place. So go for narrower and less tall tyres up front, 245/45 or 245/40 on 9j width is ok.

Really don't get how the seller of those alloys claimed that they fit on 500E's , and 22mm spacers is heck of a lot!
