Hi folks,

got a little question about the pressure on my tires, these are uniroyal's 225/45 zr 17 91w on AMG 17' rimes. I've put 2.5 bar on the front wheels and 3 bar on the rears. Is this to high or to low?

grts

I'm not old enough to know pressure by bar i'm afraid ;)
Looked up a conversion and 2.5 bar is 36 psi and 3 bar is 44psi

I would estimate that the tyres are overinflated at these pressures.

When i had a W124 with 18's on it i ran 32psi on the front and 36psi on the back to get the tyres to wear evenly.

How long have you been runing these tyres at this pressure?
Have you had any problems?

What are the tyre pressures inside the filler flap? I would start with those.

Wont those figures be for the wheels it was originally supplied with; which was most likely the 15" 195/65's?

Correct, but the pressure wont be too far from them on 17's, which is why Bill says start with those.

IIRC the recommended presures will be somewhere between what i ran and what he is now running...

Out of idle curiosity I'd be interested to know the tyre temperatures as given here.

V12 running for 3 - 4 months like that - didn't had any probs; but i was just wondering if the pressure was correct that I used

In the manual it says to put 33psi on the front and 39psi on the back with a half loaded car - a full loaded 36 front & 45 back
these are for the standars rims (15") so I just added some more into the 17" rims...

Bad idea?

Hi KAYA,
I would run the car at the pressures recommended on the inside of the filler cap according to the loading on the car. I would not increase the pressure because of the lower profile. Remember the tyre pressure will rise 3-4 psi from cold as the tyre temperature rises. Running the tyres at a slightly higher pressure will do no harm but accelerate wear especially on the centre of the tread. Remember the cabriolet runs slightly higher pressures than the saloon/coupe anyway due to its increased weight--extra body bracing/anti vibration damper and the rear rollover assembly. If you are not happy with the standard load pressures try the "mid load" pressures -no more.
cheers

Unless you regularly drive the car over 130mph and with 3 people or more, you should be looking at the top tyre pressures...
