Can anyone identify if this anti roll bar is from a 4 or 6 cylinder w124?

Thanks, I really need to know for sure.

I think a seller may have sent the wrong one by mistake, it is supposed to be from a 300TE.

It looks rubbish anyway as it is rusty and not smooth.

Where the bush fits onto the wishbone ends, the bar needs to be clean and the paint needs to be polished smooth, so that the inside of the bush which has a stocking finish can slide slightly without tearing this stocking.

Also the bolts should only be done up to 20 Nm max.

You could measure it and compare it to this table but I agree with kth286, I wouldn't be happy if I paid for a rusty one like that. They are not that expensive brand new.

I bought new 300TE bushes for it, which were too big - hence my concerns.

I stripped my old one out and offered this one up, and it was hitting the sump. Thats the main reason why I think its from a 230TE. I have a feeling the six cylinder bars are a different shape to the fours.

I don't want to go back to the seller and complain unless I'm sure it is wrong, wouldn't be fair on them in that situation.

I appreciate it is not in the best condition, once I know it is right - I'll sand it down and prepare it properly. Don't want to invest the time otherwise.

Ideally just need someone with a 300TE to take a picture of their bar in situ.

This shows the image of one from a 300TE parts diagram:

Probably best to measure it against Janner's table to be sure :thumb:
