In the problem zone again. So i am asking if any member can find info on fixing the moulded trim to the trunk lid. My w124 never came with a moulded trim cover,.And as i had seen other w124 with one , so i wanted one . The bootlid is looking cheap with out it. .Ebay was the place i picked one up from ,the clips came with it. Now looking at the lid ,and the moulding i can see no way to fix it in there . As any one else on the forum done this project..

Dec thats even better ,vellcro it is . But thinking about it , will it stick to the moulding as it is like a lots of hairs on the back of it .

That remained to be seen alright, maybe you could sand down or "shave" the area to be stuck or perhaps sew the Velcro on to the moulding.
There is probably a heavy duty version of the stuff.

As the vellcro was a very good idea , i have gone for push in clip rivets. The vellcro might have come loose after hot day in the sun.So i will be drilling the boot after all .I did not want to, but, in the end may be for the best,Thank you all for the information .:thumb:.

I just thought i would up date this little job.. And this is a nice mod for W124 mercedes owners . You can do this to make the boot lid look like a top spec car .For the reason, only Mercedes know why, that the w124 of the early cars were produced with out a moulding on the boot lid. I was so determined to fix this , after i saw a moulding for sale on Ebay to fit the w124 230E . So i went and clicked the buy now button .Well the job was easy to do .I un cliped the saftey triangle ,put the moulding on and refitted the triangle to hold it in place . The only thing i had to do was make holes for boot stop rubbers .This was done with hole cutter .Then 6 6mm push rivets .Drill the holes push rivert in ,job done .See pictures. If you do want to do this dont drill to deep or you can ome out the other side of boot lid .Also wires inside for the numberplate light,so mind these also.

Any questions i will be glad to help you ,if need be .But its easy to do .Just make sure you choose the moulding with centre supports .As some are off set and you wont get it to seat on the boot lid
