one thing i have just noticed is that the w124 cabrio bootlid for UK models lacked the high level boot lid break light, whilst all others seem to have a bootlid high level lamp..

was this ever an option in the uk? is it possible to retro fit this to the car by a body shop?

i personally think they look great, and would not hesitate to consider this..

Anyone able to advise on how difficult it would be to get added to my cabrio and also if this boot lid is available to the UK?

HERE IS WHAT I MEAN..

US, NZL, Australia got them standard in later years due to legislation. Not too sure if they got them anywhere else standard??

But Boss, your car is in "time warp" condition and would be a good start for a Concourse car. Why don't you buy another one and do some modding on that, leave that wonderful green machine in the condition is was when it left the factory. I think prefacelift cars actually look better than the facelift cars in many situations and yours definitely fits into that catagory - for me at least. Often the original in great condition is more attractive than the facelifts........

There are none second hand in NZL that I know of. Australia there may be, can check a few places if you insist, but the US is where I'd be looking if you really wanted one.

I know the brake lamp on the bootlid was a UK cost option on the R129 in '96.

thanks.. i very likely will leave this one as is.. i love it.. There are parts i love about the originality and parts that i would consider upgrading.

I will be taking it to some concourse shows in the coming years.. Not yet, as there are still some decent ones floating about, and when the time is right, i will show it off to the world.. hopefully in original condition.

:)

Leave your beautiful convertible unchanged Boss. It is far too nice to be fiddling with. I can't say I like the light - it makes the Three Pointed Star look all compressed and unsymmetrical.

hello
thanks

i always kinda liked it, but then again, you are right about compressing the badge etc

Good spot Charles, you are correct. It looks wedged in.

Chaps, a concourse is a specific kind of road or walkway. I think you may be talking about concours

Don't get me started on cars with "leathers", "interias", "bumbers", "xeon" lights, "Citreon" cars, the elusive Range Rover "Vouge" model or the as-rare Ford "Festia"

And please don't say your tyre has a "puncher"

OK?

Yes yes, I was wondering about that, didn't look right when I posted it. I am one of the worst spellers you will meet.

Anyway, with the lixdexlia regarding the positioning of letters in a word, the brain is so smart that it really doesn't need the letters in between to be in order to understand perfectly. There was a study done on this a while back and emails that did the rounds with a sentence all micky duck if you know what I mean - it was very interesting to see how the mind slips right over things like this.

I am learning so if there is anything else just let me know & I will fix it.

In the meantime, can you please help me find my seat? You are in the trade, is there anybody I need to contact in the UK who may have one.

Regards, W.

P.S. What do you think of these bootlid high stop lights?
