Nice, but he wants top money considering:

No air con.
Wrong engine :)

£10k - Buy it now or 'make offer'... is not indicitive of top money or too much, when you factor in the combination of the low mileage of 68K, all MOTS, and full FMBSH and what seems like from the pics in really great shape...

Those things at this age will trump lack of AC and smaller engine... just means if it was a E320 it would be worth even more....

The reason i say that is because, if everything tallies up i just dont see it as a 6,7 or 8k car?....

Personally I think its more like a 7 to 8k car as a private sale.

There is another on ebay with 77K, at 8995 that is retail which is also good. He will expect to get beaten down to 8K

It is without doubt a nice car, although I think more effort could be put into the advert

Just because its got every stamp from mercedes, for me does not mean much, without back up. If it has all of the invoices with work done, then its not specified, Also only 4 pictures none with the hood up, does not help.

A better ad, if its as good as you seem to think it is, would help to justify the price.

Is it yours?

Is it mine? Not at all, not my style to talk about a car I own and stay quiet on that key fact!... but yes I do own one, as my username suggests.... but will probably never sell..;)

Regardless of the quality of the advert, as I said if everything checks out, ie: condition, paperwork, hood, everything (which is what i based my opinion on earlier)..... imo if it can be had sub £10k, thats a great buy...

Your valuation of £7k for one with that kind of (verified) mileage, fmbsh, all mots and condition that reflects the mileage is abit low ball imo..

I take your point about the other one for sale, but a quick browse reveals others around or below your valuation, have about double the mileage... so prices for these as always are everywhere... but after looking at these for over 13 years now regularly, the 100k mile barrier is one of the biggest factors that dictates the prices of these.... and now condion too as they get older and older....and this one falls well within these parameters...

I think this is a classic case of me over-valueing these in your eyes and you under-valueing these in my eyes.... so we'll probably never agree on this car or others too! Lol

No biggie in my part... all part of the fun!

Have a good evening...:thumb:

:) Agree with the if everything checks out.

If its a great car, the seller is guilty of less is more.

Maybe I am just a cynic, as every time I see FMBSH in an advert, it turns out to not be the case. For me FMBSH means every service, every invoice, and all work done by MB.

Although not sure I would trust them to even touch a 124 these days.

This car has 3 owners, to break the documentation trail.

Let's see where it ends up.:D

We regularly see 30 Deg C here with high humidity, having no AC is slightly inconvenient but can be overcome by reverting to having all the windows down with the top up. It is surprisingly effective and refreshing in the heat, also looks pretty dman smart in that configuration.

I agree that FBMSH is a over used term.... but what sticks out with this one is that it says, full Mercedes History right upto the last one in June 2015.....

So basically it was was at MB less than a year ago for its last service, how many W124's can say that?...

Weather its a good thing or a bad thing, I think we should leave that to another thread!.... but surely it shows (in the least) that the owner wasnt a miser!

With regards to Invoices, I bought my 190E Cosworth with a fully stamped up book from MB of Norwich (23 stamps/one dealer history) but no invoices from them, but a quick phone call confirmed everything and then a subsequent email from them with all the service entries, dates, mileage entries and even the invoice totals was sent... just didnt have a breakdown of the works.... but tallying up with the service book reveals what kind of service it was...Might be an isolated case but lack of invoices doesnt always mean its the end of the road....

It's a nice looking car, and the price seems reasonable to me.

The comments about prices from dealers being higher than that when buying from a private owner are interesting. There is no doubt that buying from a dealer means a higher price, but I would rather buy privately as you can tell so much from the owner about the car.

We've all read the sale ads, 'I bought this two years ago from xyz Mercedes specialist and since then I've really kept on top of the car having new head gasket, wiring loom and the rear jacking points welded', makes me wonder what the so called specialists do other than refurb the wheels and repaint the front wings

cannot imagine it the mileage of 50k is correct if it and proves out to be this could be a steal, but like you said approach with care and double check everything. it might be a deal very rarely miracles does happen.

I've got one with less than 50K miles, 1996, Sportline, e.t.c.

Beautiful car, but everyone prefers 320
About the air con it's not a big deal, because we live in England and I can't see temperature reaching 50
The problem with 124 cabriolets there is no market price for them, and there is hardly any for sale, I've seen people asking for up to £25000, and others go for £5000 or £6000
But let's face it, they are rare and it seems like a nice example, so if cash not an issue to you, go for it.

guys just sold buy it now 10k full asking we are sailing

Paid a little more than that for a E320 Sportline 1996 with 68 000 kms on it one lady owner. Still got it, may sell?
