The motor that operates the RH rear window lift on my A124 has failed.
I see that there is a steel cable that operates the window rack and this seems integral with the motor.
Is it possible to replace just the motor and if so how is the cable rigged or do I need to get a "new" assembly

It's unusual for the motor to fail. I took mine apart and cleaned, regreased everything and it worked again. Are you sure the cable has not snapped? If so you cannot get them for the cabriolet. The complete unit is around £350. I had two sets of cables specially made and used one set. It is a bit tricky but can be done if the cable is snapped.

There is an overheat cutout built into the motor. This can blow sometimes from a sticking window switch. The cutout can be reset by partially removing the motor.
