W124 Coupe (e220) intermittent start up issue

Guys,

Looks as though I have an intermittent start-up issue. Sometimes it just doesn't seem like there is enough power on start-up. Please note that I have just put in 4 gauge power to the boot...perhaps the battery is struggling with the new load?

Any alternative ideas? This is an intermittent problem and does not follow any specific patter, i.e. duration of time between startups etc. To date, the problem has been 'managed' but attempting to start a second time and touching on gas..

Thanks in advance.

Charan

How old is your battery and what is its rating? Sounds as if you are on the right track-new loads maybe preventing adequate recharging. Other possibility is with your alternator charging rate [ fault?]or a problem with your starter motor. Both might possibly be overhauled by a good vehicle electrician rather than replaced completely.

What are you running in the boot and how much current does it consume compared to your alternator output?

not sure mate.

So it looks as though it could be quite a simple fix...battery, alternator, starter motor. Do you have any idea of costs on these?

2x12's. No idea mate...but a question that will obviously lead to useful info!
