Hi,
having first issues with seatbelt extenders, passenger side extends out but doesn't retract.

Have been manually pushing in but have surprisingly found little out by searching except for the cabriolet's.

Where would be the first place to start, i've ruled out fuses as they extend fine.

Thanks

There are a few things that go wrong with these but as you say that it is extending they must be limited. You could try pulling the arm completely out and checking the rack on the underside for damage. The common faults occur as a result of the gears breaking up. Alternatively, you could check the microswitches that control the actions of the device. They are mounted on the mechanism hidden behind the paneling.

Is the seat belt anchor sensor cable still attached under the seat?

If not the arm would remain out despite being buckled up.

The arm goes back after a timer expires or when the seatbelt is fastened. So even if you don't fasten the seatbelt it retracts after a certain time. Sounds like the relay which controls this has gone kaput.

on my 230CE the arm doesnt come out at all on the drivers side.. tried to pull the relay out and then put it in and did see the arm was moving but it does not come out. even tried to change the relay but it did not help..
any suggestions?

Lars
