W124 Coupe window scratching

I seem to have a fair amount of grit which is scratching both the front and rear windows in my W124 e220 Coupe.

Is there an easy way to clear this grit out without taking the door to pieces?

The outer rubber is integral to the alloy window strips which just lift in an upwards direction for removal. Sometimes they can be a little troublesome but a bit of a wiggle normally works.

Once removed you should be able to clean the rubbers up and up and re-assemble.
