went to use gfp 2 last night and the dash lights are all out and the heater was only doing cold and there was no air coming from the 2 vents above the stero

i hope they could all be the same fuse ?

It dosen't appear so :( . According to the handbook:

Fuse 3 (white 8amp) covers O/S parking and tail lamps, headlamp warnign buzzer, number plate illumination, instrument cluster, controls and headlamp cleaning

Fuse 5 (white 8amp) covers the brake lights, instrument cluster, front interior light, cruise, rev counter and bulb out warning

Fuse 7 (white 8amp) covers heater valves, water pump, engine fan, heater control unit and climate control

If the fuse blows the heater should go hot as the duo-valves stay open.

so anyone any ideas why they would all stop working

they were fine but i cant remember the last time i drove in the dark or needed heat !

Have you looked inside the fuse box? After the torrential rain we have had I wonder about water ingress.

It may sound daft, but are you sure the dash rheostat isn't turned right down?

rheostat

is that a word ?

if a typo and you ment theostat ive still not herd of it

i did not think the w124 had adjustable dash lights ?

it does and its the control on the dash the left of the two black knobs below speedo, if pressed it resets trip-meter if turned controls dash and interior lights, but I dont think it will have any effoct on your other problems

The dash lights dim with a rheostat (brightness knob, if you will) which is the left hand one of the two thin black plastic knurled knobs that sprout from the bottom of the speedo. It resets the trip counter when pressed in, and when turned, dims the dash lights. The other knob sets the time on the clock.

Edit: too slow at typing, jpskiller got there first!

WOW

ie had these cars since 2004 and did not know that !

and what a weird name for it

thats probably what it is

i had my mate driving it and he probably adjusted it

you live and learn

cheers peeps

how about there being no hot air what do you think that could be ?

No, you're right, it's a typo. :o

I meant to write "little knob wot you can turn wot makes the dash lights go louder or quieter"

Yes, quieter is a word.

The hot air problem is probably a faulty theostat.

ok, sent a bod out to do my dirty work and got the following report back

1 - dash light volume is neithe rup nor down they are off (yes lights on car were on and it was night)

2 - side ligts & main beam flash work as do the fog lights, BUT my driving lights are on click one only and when on click 2 still the same as click 1 (meaning side lights on when it should be normal driving lights)

so shall i buy the biggets hammer ebay sell or make some mint hot chocolate

typically i get the tt working and gfp 2 goes wonky

beans meanz heinz

The ignition was turned on, wasn't it.?
