It may not be genuine but it costs a lot less than my genuine one did.

The compass one looks a bit naff though.

The W210 mirror fits poorly and you lose your mini sun-visor. My basic auto dimming mirror costs 92 pounds shipped. Don't know about the UK, but in the US, you would be hard pressed to get a W210 mirror for that price.

I've got a proper w124 auto dimming mirror in the shed somewhere. I think I sold the last one I had for almost 300euros.

My genuine one was about €180 off german e-bay. I think I was lucky as it had a buy it now of nearly €300. Those USA ones look a bargain.

The OE W124 auto dimming mirrors do seem to sell for quite a bit of money. I see these on German EBay all the time.

I have rebuilt a handfull of OE W124 auto dimming mirrors and also re-created a few. Over time the glass tends to yellow and the socket that holds the mounting bracket also gets brittle, so the mirror ends up not holding its position.

As for the electronics, these are early auto dimming mirrors and the sensors did not adjust the dimming based on the intensity of the light. Hence why you have a min-max switch. The early mirrors also had the tendency to "bleed" the fluid from the glass.

Newer auto dimming mirrors utilize light sensors that dim the mirror based on the intensity of the light being received. Nice feature that eliminates the need for a min-max switch. The rate at which the mirror dims/un-dims is also increased. You also see a variety of integrated options in newer mirrors as well; e.g. compass, Homelink, on/off functions, map lights, LED illumination, outside temp displays etc.

You also have what I call the "mac daddy" mirrors, ones with integrated touch screen GPS, bluetooth, backup camera screen, auto dim, Homelink etc.. I am going to be offering one of these in my product line, its in the "proof of concept" stage now.
