So, once painted, whats the best method of attachment and second ly whst the cirrect size mercedes badge it neefs in the middle?

I dont want any other badges than the middle one.

    Cheers

The AMG 124 Ducktail comes in two versions- coupe and sedan.
Both were made with either a stick on AMG badge or an embossed AMG logo.
The star is usually not used as it doesn't correctly fit the concave contour of the spoiler.
If you can find an original spoiler it will probably be made of polyurethane.
The earliest of AMG spoilers were fiberglass.

The spoiler is attached to the car with a polyurethane adhesive and two screws from the underside of the trunk lid.

Below links to the AMG kit installation documents:
( Note the mention of the center Star as the instructions were written after the AMG-Merc merger hence the Merc references. Pre merger the Star was not mentioned or used. Also note the AMG badge shown is the newer "///AMG" not the original "AMG" )

Also, dont make the mistake (like I did) of thinking the coupe one will fit the saloon.. they are completely different shapes.

The coupe/cab full kit part number should be B6-602-067-2 consisting of center section HWA-124-790-06-88, left side HWA-124-790-07-88, right side HWA-124-790-08-88.

Any ideas what size / item model rear star I would need?

Looks like my existing one will be too big.

The Star part number for the Ducktail is HWA 201 758 03 58.
"HWA" is the AMG indicator so the Merc part number is 201 758 03 58

This part number calls out the rear star for both the W201 and W124.
I also think the W202 part number 202 758 03 58 is also the same.

You'll end up with the same star that you have which will fit but not as flush as it should !

You must remember that the Ducktail was a premerger AMG part which never used the Merc star logo.

It wasn't until 1993 or so that AMG identified itself with Merc hence the addition of the Star and new AMG logo on the Ducktail..

I'm not sure if a smaller diameter star would fit any better as the face of the Ducktail is slightly concave.
