Morning people,
After the loss of £17 worth of self leveling fluid it was obviouse I had a problem. After inspection the rear suspension could do with an overall. has anyone done this to give me an idea of cost. Im thinking of full bush replacement and all pipes on self leveling as there is oil everywhere, plus there is a bolt snapped off which holds the brake caliper on, oh dear. Any info would be great thanks.

Hi,
I'm just halfway from fixing my 1994 E280T's rear suspension.
Bought a rear suspension kit from eBay in Germany and had most of the parts fitted without problem with just a couple to do shortly.
WISHBONE ARMS SET MERCEDES W208_W210 W124 REAR NEW on eBay (end time 27-Mar-11 12:42:02 BST)

Also about to have the rear SLS spheres replaced as they have gone. Bought them from Eurocarprts (Merc ones are 95+vat each). They wanted £69+vat each but said I had a better price of £62+vat and they did them for £61+vat each with free delivery. They are a quality brand too.Been quoted an hour each side to replace which seems ok.
Hope this helps a little.
Toby

I was looking at this kit when i did mine, but decided to go for OEM parts as the quality was more important for me. I paid about £400-500 parts only, but i haven't got SLS.

I have been in contact with Ian at 124works, who says he can take the sub frame off, repace all bushes and give the old girl a good overall. Price for the work quoted seems reasonable, has anyone else used Ians services ? he seem like a nice chap over the phone.

Ian is a well regarded member on here. go for it.

Ian's team have just changed the rear suspension bushes on my 124 saloon. They did the prop shaft doughnuts whilst they were under there too as they were pretty shot.
Do not hesitate to use Ian for any job on your 124.

I must point out that I tend to lurk around 124 Works quite a bit and will probably be "tea boy" when you arrive.

Cheers.

With the issues I had getting it set up, I wish id have gone to Ian in the first place. To be fare, the chap who did the job for me is a top man but I think these things need that special TLC
