Hi

I have a 1993 E220 cabriolet which I've owned for approx 10 years. It has just developed a problem with the roof operation. The hydraulics seem OK but the whole roof function seems to have gone out of sync. Does anyone have any ideas or know where I can find some fault finding help / instructions?

Thanks

When you say 'out of sync', do you mean the roof is out of sync with the windows?...or something else?

If the hydraulics are fine, I would check the the condition of your battery.... As the complex roof mechanism uses up a hell of a charge to function, so therefore a decent battery is vital.

Thanks for the reply

Originally when closing the roof the section which has the rear window wouldn't latch down. With a bit of manual intervention it was OK but appeared to be latch issue. I had a play with it yesterday and got it closed but it now won't open. It appears to be trying to latch rather than un-latch the back when I attempt to open it. I'm pretty sure the battery is OK, I have had that problem in the past and recognise the symptoms. Anyway I always open / close the roof with the engine running. The windows/read headrests are all in sync, just the roof itself is the problem.

Thanks

Thanks Graeme, I don't have access to a code scanner but there may be some clues on page 66

friend having similar problem with the roof

I had a similar problem with my cab's soft top as the final panel that has the rear screen would not close nor would it open.

Apparently something making up the frame had come apart so I took it to dclass for repair and while they were at it, a new much needed soft top was fitted.
