    Hello all,

    I own a W124 E220 Coupe registered in 1996.

Currently I am in the process of stripping the engine to replace the head gasket and I am now @ the point of locking the camshafts....... but......everything I've read online states that the camshafts are locked when the crank aligns @ 20degree mark. On my car I can only lock the camshafts @ the 30 degree mark!!!

I'm fairly nervous to go any further until I can get confirmation that the 30 degree mark is okay...... but then again why is is different to everything I've read online???

I rotated the engine numerous times but still can only get the locking holes lined up @ the 30 degree mark.

    I'm puzzled a this point.

Would anyone have any guidance / info on this. I believe the engine is a standard M111.961.

    Thanks,

    Islanderre
