w124 E230 ABS Light & Low Revs

I have just bought my first Mercedes Benz and am new to the forum. I have got a 1 family owned 1992 E class 230, which is in really good condition and has low mileage. When I bought the car a few weeks ago it started up fine and ran perfect. Then the ABS light started to come on and the revs would drop. Now, it won't start very well and when it does the ABS light remains on and the idle is low. There seems to be a real lack of power! If the ABS light goes out, the car runs great again. This may well be a problem that a lot of people are aware of except me. Can anyone help please as to what is the problem and how is it fixed? Thanks, Martin.
