Anyone out there know what the gearbox code is for the W124 E300D 24valve automatic gear-box. I'm keen to source a replacement for mine as forward gears have stopped working on mine.

4 speed -auto- 722.3 oe 722.4 5 speed auto- 722.5 1985 to 1995 I would ask why you have no gears first .Is fluid level fine?

Should be a 722.435.
Why not have your existing box repaired? Second hand replacements are getting rare and could be as broken as the one you have but you won't know until after the swap.

Some forums on the seem to be suggesting it's a 722.415
Regards repair I assumed the cost may be unreasonable. However maybe I'm wrong.

Fluid level seems fine, it failed without at the enterance to a roundabout in the middle of town during the morning rush. No real warning signs other than a very slight judder on the motorway a few days earlier.

Now I need to find a replacement or get it repaired.
