This is worth a look at, an N-reg E320 Coupe. Only done a guaranteed 50k miles and has "15 MB Stamps up to 46k".

I think it might have a cloth interior, but at the right price, what does it matter?

Vultures like Ironside frequently asks £6-£8k for a car like this. Would be nice to see a forumite pick up this car at a good price than one of those dealers who'll pick up a bargain and put a whacking big markup on it.

Interesting. What is the right money for something like this (as an auction buy and sold as seen)? Looking at the BCA website it's a condition grade 4 and has a fair bit of rust on both front wings and a quarter panel, as well as scuffed bumpers, corroded wheels - so it'd need a cosmetic overhaul including new wings to bring it up to scratch.

Still, 50k miles with MB history counts in it's favour..

Question for the OP - why the continual CI bashing?

I've no interest in him at all, and I agree many of his cars seem to be priced on the more expensive side - but I don't see the need to constantly moan about them in particular?

He's just a trader selling niche vehicles at the end of the day, and isn't forcing anyone to buy anything...

I wouldn't be too worried about these sort of cosmetic issues as they can be dealt with easily enough over time - just need to make sure that she's totally solid underneath.

It very much depends on whether or not someone else is in the room who really wants it. If you are lucky and only a few show mild interest in it you might be looking at £1500-£2000 hammer price. But with all auctions it can be very unpredictable.

Don't forget timk, if you bidding as a member of the public, and it does end at say £2k, you'll need to add roughly £250-£300 buyers premium/commission to the hammer price. Also be aware that there is a charge to pay by credit card or cash (I think 2%, debit cards are free IIRC), plus a V5 fee of £25. I also think you need to present an insurance certificate before you can drive it away (unless you have it trailered).

Yes, I've bought a few times before through BCA so am familiar with the process. It's a gamble with auctions, I think some have the mentality that everything at an auction is a bargain, and bid silly money. Hard to put a value on something like this without knowing what has been done other than routine servicing, particularly without being able to get it on a ramp to check for rot etc. The unseen nature of it dictates it should be at the cheaper end, but I think the low mileage will get some bidders excited.

I agree...

Its funny how people like to bash traders like C.I., but some of his cars which are for sale at 35k still sell. In a different light, atleast people like him are still sourcing these rare cars which are in fantastic condition for us all to enjoy or purchase one day.

The equation is simple, if you dont like his prices, then go look elsewhere.

The car is low mileage but its very poor spec for a late E320.

The only options on the datacard are 5sp box and a\c. Its NOT a sportline chassis and it doesnt have leather.

To realise the true value of the car it needs to be retrimmed (you would need to source a set of leather seats as the design of the covers if different) and it needs a fair amount of bodywork.

As a project car, its a good base, assuming floor is sound.

Or use it as a hack and sell on for what you bought it for in a year - hopefully.

£3850, was bouncing between a hall and internet bid. Reserve was met at £1750, and it went up in £50's so it took a while.

That is serious money for a car needing a fair bit of work. I expect it will reappear in several weeks for £8-10,000 at one of the specialists.

Can't be many cloth E320-anyone seen one before?-has a certain curiousity value must admit due to rarity

i like that CI takes average w124's cleans them up and makes them look great again as ive not seen any cars on his site that look crap, he makes money but also stops w124's disappearing off our roads as im sure he adds a few years to their lifespan when he has finished his tinkering
