W124 E36 - best alarm/immob solution?

Hi all,

I have an E36 UK estate (genione factory) from which the PO removed the alarm and tracker. I therefore wish to install a total closure immobiliser and alarm system. (it does not have any infra-red on the door handles)

What's the opinion on the most reliable system out there? I have heard that some systems might flat the battery, for example.. any advice on previous experience would be really welcome. I am aiming to have the something in in the next 2-3 weeks or so.

Hi, in my experience alarms are only as good as they are fitted,
If you want the alarm to just do locking and windows, i would go for a cat 1 Autowatch.
If you want to do more like proximity sensing, garage opening, tilt sensing then i'd go for a clifford, but make sure its fitted by a approved installer or you will have years of grief.
