Not the part #. HFM units (with a part # beginning 017 or higher IIRC) are not plug & play the way PMS units & earlier ECUs & ICMs were, they're coded to the individual car.

Dean, what's the VIN of your car? That's the only way to discover what was originally on your car.

Nope you are not missing something- these units vary depending on chassis no, market, options fitted, KAT or non KAT ASR etc. I'm afraid the empirical approach in the event of ECU failure is look at the existing part no and look for a direct replacement or nearest equivalent. An option not open to you unfortunately.:( Rather than give you an answer that might be wrong I posted the link just to illustrate the possible permuations. The only thing I can suggest is make a list of the options you have fitted and post them on here and hope someone is kind enough to post up their own ECU number for their car that is a very close match to yours??
Otherwise its a ECU or MB EPC specialist familiar with your vintage of car.

This is a hard one to sort out ,,,you see in the picture it would be one of those ecu but for the right one you will need more information,, these dont cost pence but mega bucks .. But you do have something to go on with the help of Grober . You need a member thats got this model and to ask him very nice if he might take a look for sure . Mine is a W124 260 E 1989 no help at all .But to keep the post alive,, so you can to get more help .,,
