The inserts appear to be foil covered plastic and they're cracked and lifting, I've searched the forums and I see that a couple of members 'Burdy' and 'clever dicky' have fabricated these from stainless steel but for other models, not a W124. I don't have the post count yet to email them.

There is a specialist in Watford on ebay but I just want the inserts not a brushed chrome cover.

Anybody found these?

It's only self adhesive aluminium tape, shouldn't be too hard to find something suitable. Commonly found ally tape is a bit on the thin side but thicker stuff exists... google shopping

If enough people want/need to replace theirs then a someone like 3M or a specialist tape company may be the way forward- buy a roll in each width needed. Another way would be some stainless shim stock and a roll of double sided tape

Forgot to add a link for an example of http://www.hollinbrow.co.uk/hollinbrow/set2_final.asp?set1=Stainless%20Steel&set2=Shim
