Well give the ol girl a good looking over at the weekend... she's just had two new wings and wishbones so i thought i'd check rear end grease a few nipples...!!

Shes been grabbing at gears recently and put this down to old age and 170k... the gearbox oil and filter were changed at w124 18months ago so i know shes ok that side thought it may be the dif..

Well I put her on front and rear ramps...she immaculate underneath no a sign of rust...re greased brake pipes...etc

took her out on the roads...and she's running better than ever...smoother gear changes than in a long time..and just sounding very quiet... even the engine.....
:dk:
Anyone shed light on this phenominon..!!! its not just me i can assure you..

many thanks

vacuum is the key to smooth shifting autos.

At your miles the engine mount may be tired/sagging and causing a vacuum pipe to stretch causing a slight leak/input of air.

By jacking front and rear of car you have temporarily caused engine/gearbox to move on their mounts thus relieving the previous stretched vacuum pipe,
thus making proper seal again. But it will likely not last.

search and cure my friend..

where and what should I look for .... i want the old girl to carry on performing like she is?

thanks
