hi

on the left hand side of the tailgate, there is a rubber grommet/pipe that takes all the wires from the car into the tailgate.

Inside the car, once you remove the headlining trim there at 12 wires all connected up onto a plastic row.

does anyone know what each wire does here?

thanks

Derek

I don't, but it'd be useful information to have on a Sticky

They should all be traceable using colour codes. But you'll need an accurate chart of those to work it out

You might find the Haynes manual useful - it fits nicely between the roof and the headlining to give room to see the connector block. Alternatively you could burn it to keep the workshop warm...

Yep would be real useful. Rear lights in the pax and cargo dept have never worked in my estate. I know you have to get in there total PITA.

Nothing to do with the tailgate. I had one car where they didn't work. A quick look revealed no bulbs. I replaced the bulbs and the lights were on continuously. After a minute of head-scratching I discovered the rearmost lights were in upside down and were earthing to the chassis and turning themselves on. The circuit has a switched earth, not switched live

Fraid they do Nick. Trigger wire brown/grey to the closure mech is paralleled to the rear door switches and earths when the mech operates. Open the tailgate and the cargo lights should come on. Power wire to the closure is 2.5mm Red/white permanent live.
