This is a job which I keep meaning to get around to!

My external temp gauge tells me all sorts of weird temps, and I've been told it is the sensor which needs replacing.

Does anyone have one please? Will one from another model fit my W124?

Cheers!

It may be worth tracing and checking the integrity of the electrical connections as it may just be a corroded contact somewhere - there are basically two connectors coming out of the back of the instrument you'll find them above the driver's footwell as the leads are only a few inches long out of the instrument - the two-pin one goes to the sensor , while the other carries power , earth and illumination . It is worth unplugging and cleaning contacts to see what happens .

I've retrofitted the units sourced from breakers , but always the instrument and sensor from the same donor car - I don't know if they need to be matched or calibrated to each other ? The length of the lead for the sensor may vary to fit different models . A specialist breaker like Dave Collins may be able to help ( [email protected] ) .

OK, thanks. I'll have a look at the connections later this week.

Actually, I should have said, althought it does give random numbers, normally it sits at about 9 degrees under that it should be, so I'm sure the sensor is shot.

Anyone got one please?
