w124 fans infront of radiator

hey everyone,
just wondering..... we recently moved from an 88 200t to a 92 230te and the new car has a thin fan on the front of the radiator that the old car doesnt have.... i noticed on my friends 320e coupe that he has two of these fans on the front of the radiator, i was just wondering what are they for? I havent been able to find any reference to them in my haynes manual yet.

Electric auxilliary fan to cool the AC condensor AFAIK.

Ah, I did wonder if it was something to do with the AC... new car and friends car have it but old one doesnt, think it needs a re-gas tho....

dependednt on age of car, might need conversion, and also might not even work, lots of info on subject if do a search
