Hi all, this has probably come up before and is a know issue on the W124 range.

So i have researched wings a small amount and found genuine are no longer available from dealers, has anyone replaced any with aftermarket/pattern ones?
Or bought pattern ones just for the arch to cut out and replace keeping the genuine wings.

My W124 is a 1994 saloon in smoke silver, 2nd owner with 73,000 miles and the wings let it down, so would like them done and the bumpers, it will be a nice example to use.

Thanks all

Neil

I obtained genuine ones from the dealer a few months ago. I was told that they had been out of stock but because there’s demand, new batches are made. So, if you want the genuine part it is worth waiting a few weeks and checking again. Depending on your dealer, you can even make the payment so when the parts become available they are yours. Not all dealers will do that though

I purchased one side in January for 250 including VAT, the other side was out of stock. A new batch arrived in February and Mercedes hiked the price to 465 including VAT which hurt 😞

Neilw124 I went new to start with. But sent it back as soon as i saw it .Half the weight of old original wing and no lip to hang the mud flasps on to. Looked for ages on Ebay and found a used one the same colour. The wing was on Ebay on a car for sale after it was smashed up by a lorry . I managed to get the seller to sell me the wing on its own Wing was mint and i only had to treat inside with Wax . The driver side was a wing off Ebay i preped myself .First picture of wing i had off the smashed car on Ebay .new wing (1).jpgC9hF6Fd.jpgDSC04408.JPGDSC04376.JPGDSC07585.JPG66722663_2331265363606390_9085312744076345344_n.jpeg

By the way a piece of cake to fit them on . Just get rust free original used wings if you can . I know its hard task to find them, but i did it . If you do buy good second hand make sure they have the star logo stamp on the inside lip . So many clones out there .

The last few batches from MB did not have star logo stamped on them. I agree they are lighter then what they used to be so a good used one with no rust is the best option if can be found.

I have just checked with and seems like one side is available in Germany and the other side is currently unavailable but they increased the price to 875 + VAT which is outrageous considering they were 250 inc VAT less than a year ago.

optimus,

Did you get a blue wing from me, sent in a very sturdy bicycle box?
