Hi all,
just wondered if anyone has encountered this problem. The fuse numbered 3 on my W124 E300D keeps blowing. I relates to the right rearlight and instrument cluster amongst other things. I have done the obvious checks and changed tail light bulb. Any clues?

have you got electric seats/ headlight wash wipe/sunroof/elec adjust/heated outside mirrors? My guess is a seized headlight wiper motor if you have them?? They operate when you use the windscreen washer IIRC

No headlamp washers electric adjust or but will check sunroof as that switch did occasionally jam. if not that is it possibly the door mirrors?

My suggestions are based mainly on items that are exposed to the weather and may be shorting to earth in some way? The door mirrors are usually pretty reliable unless they have been damaged/repaired?

Tried sunroof mirrors and both ok, any further suggestions ?

Have you lifted the fuse block out of the holder. I have found stray wire under there before now. All it needs is one to keep touching earth.

I seemed to have sorted the problem. there was a feed to the towbar relay adrift so i am suspecting that was the problem although I did give the fuse box a bit of a wiggle as well soi who knows? anyway fuse is still intact, many thanks for replies
