Hi all :)

W124, 230E 1990 prefacelift...

For a few months now I have been hearing a humming sound that comes from the Rear of the car..
Whenever I drive and stop at traffic lights.. sometimes I hear a hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm from the rear end of the car... and it goes on for about 4 seconds then goes away... Its a deep humming sound. then quietens away...
Sometimes when I park the car and turn the engine off.. after about 2 seconds, the humming just comes... hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm for a few seconds and goes away..
Its louder from the outside but I do not have a clue what it could be??

Any Help would be appriciated:)

Many Thanks;)

Fuel pump or accumulator. Might be a good idea to change the fuel filter, clean out the pump.

Ok :))
It cant be anything else can it?
Just so i have a rough idea while taking it all apart:)

oh nono...
Standard springs :)
By the way.. does anyone know where the fuel sender is located? is it under the first aid box?

Do you mean the fuel pump?

Nono the sender unit..
Long cylinder type unit:)

the sender unit is located inside the tank. To acess you remove the cloth / card covering from behind the rear seats inside the boot. The sender unit is at the top in the center of the fuel tank.

Start with the filter first and see if the noise goes away?:thumb: That fuel pump/filter/accumulator comes as a 3 unit rubber mounted assembly so you might be able to pick up a good assembly at a breaker for not too much money if that proves necessary. Get some good fuel line clamps if you don't want a petrol bath.;)

haha will do :D
Yeah i dont want to be swimming in fuel during these high fuel prices haha =)
Clamps will do me perfect..
I will take the advice right away..

Thanks all.. :)
