I would be grateful of some advice.
On the way home from work today I noticed that my Rev counter, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge, cruise control all stopped working.
The speedometer is working and there is a slight whirring noise coming from the area from the drivers side dash speaker. The whirring noise stops when you indicate left or right.

The 8A white fuse in the 3rd slot looks ok although haven't changed it yet as I didn't have a spare.

I would be grateful for ideas or if anyone has had similar problems . The car is going in for a service next week but I would like to have an idea what is wrong. Is this likely to be a dash off job ???

Possible voltage stabiliser if your vehicle has such a thing!? Does seem strange though that the cruise control's not working.... Fuse's are funny, although they look intact, just by putting a new one in this can sort the problem as their properties can break down. Please bear in mind that if these have been fitted for 10+ years they will break down eventually... Sorry I havent been specifc, but with electrics you need to start with the basics, process of elimenation.

My W140 did a similar thing a few months ago, although the entire instrument cluster - including the speedo - stopped working. I dont know that it affected cruise control, I dont remember trying it.

Simply taking the fuse out and putting it back in was enough to reset it and everything was fine again. Theres a dodgy bulb on the right hand side of the cluster which occasionally goes out, but a tap on the glass brings it back on again. I suspect this had something to do with mine failing. But, touch wood, its been OK since..

connection problem ?
