Hi all, first of all thanks for letting me join,a lot of useful info here.
Now the problem I have in my 1992 230e is after running the fan on no4 setting and heating right up for about 15 min. it suddenly stopped working. I looked inside the fuse box to find the fuse still in one piece but the actual socket melted and collapsed down a little. Ive managed to get it fixed up for now (scraped all the melted plastic out and re seated the fuse.) The blower is now working and clearly i wont be using the 4th setting anymore but I'm being a little paranoid something is going to go wrong.
Am i looking at getting a new blower motor/fan to cure this issue?
Thanks very much in advance.
Michael.

Nothing to worry about.
High current circuits will sometimes do this after a long time.
The heat generated by a very slight resistance where the fuse plugs in causes the metal to oxidise and over time create a slightly higher resistance, and so it goes on until the connection gets too bad for the device to work - and that's where you look and find the damage.
If you've bypassed the fuse and made good connections to the new fuse, all should be ok.
