    greetings all,

I'm looking for a little help in finding a part number for my 124 that my local MB parts dept don't seem to be able to locate on there EPC.

the part in question is the rubber plug/grommet that is fitted over the holes (2 on each side) in the rear side pannels that are located under the plastic cladding piece just behind the door.

i think the hole and nut they cover are the rear window adjustment nuts?:dk:

at the moment mine are covered with windscreen washer lids according to MB.

    regards.

As MB will probably want to charge about £10 each for a couple of grommets you may be better off going to your local scrapyard.

    thanks for that whitenemesis,

not sure if that's the right part, form the picture it doesn't look round to me.

the bung/plug/grommet i'm after is to plug a 30mm diameter hole that needs to have some sort of rebate in it to allow for the bolt located within to stick out a little, whalst still remaining covered.

    regards.

it may be to cover bolts 22 and 24 shown above, if they are the bolts that are visible from outside the car through holes in the rear side pannel.

the bolts in question seem to have an adjustment nut at the centre which sits proud in the hole to be plugged.

    regards.

PHEW, just managed to upload a picture.

These are two of the four holes that need re-grommeting.

As is visible, the centre nut protrudes slightly, I presume for adjustment.

The only one I can see is A0009974020 which is listed as a 32mm bung and says "side member, outside bottom.

The other one is probably a1139870044 which is a 20mm plug

    Thanks for that Jay,

We are talking outside; they cover the two holes in the lower side panels, with what I believe is the rear window adjustment nuts behind them.

my local MB dealer parts dept. are getting one of the 32mm "side member outside bottom" in for me to test on the car, it has to come all the way from Germany at £1.20.

They are not sure that it’s the right part, because it didn’t seem to have the recess for the nut head, but want to try it out anyway.

    will post our findings!

the problem with grommets is that they arent shown where they actually go on the EPC. They just have their own page and sometimes a brief description of location.

This is done because the same parts may be used in various places in the car.

There is also another number on them 02 5370/1

They are solid but the centre is very thin to allow it to distort around the nut/bolt.
