w124......rattly heatshield

The exhaust heatshield seems to have shed its bolts (corroded and snapped by the look of it).

Question is can I get the bloody thing back on without having to pull the back box off etc.

Any advice coz its rattling like a bugger?

Go to an exh shop and get them to zap it back into place with the MIG...

I agree with Spike, I took mine off my 300E as the front shields were rattling badly.....car is none the worse for it.

I just undid the remaining bolts and with a bit of pushing and pulling it came off.

Thxs guys. The thought had occurred that the thing might not be strictly needed. Spose it might heat the boot up a bit but this could be utilised to keep pies warm etc
