Anyone know how to do this?

Going to try get them done on the next nice day.

The new gear knob ive got comes with a new shaft, so i need to remove the old one and it looks like the new shaft screws in, and then the new knob sit on top of that, screwed in.

Need to remove the rear parcel shelf to get access to my electric rear blind as its been unplugged by accident by the bloke that done my alarm.

The rear parcel shelf is actually quite easy.

For a saloon, it's a case of carefully taking off the plastic clips that surround the base of the metal headreasts arms. Carefully use a flat head screw driver to lift these, and also try to push from underneath, within the boot, as they can easily crack. Once done, you need to release the metal headrest arms from within the boot. This may involve physically getting in the boot! Look in the boot at the underside if the metal headrest arms. Look for a small black sprung locking clip, on the base of the arms, which moves to release them from the vacuum system.

Once these are off, open the first aid cover and unscrew the two black clips which are closest to the seat. These hold the parcel shelf to the vehicle. Take off the speaker covers and carefully lift the shelf out.

This is a rather vague description, but I'd need to have another look in the boot to be more detailed! Pm me if you want more detail.

Cheers guys, will attempt both tomorrow, weather permitting and report with my results :)

Id buy some new plastic trims to go over the headrest arms, they get brittle and break.
once you remove the covers, you should be able to see a small black flap on one of the 2 arms (one on each headrest). Ive just pushed them in from on top of the shelf, not from the boot, but that may work too.

Then you need to remove the rear seats, speaker covers, there are 2 screws in the first aid compartment, and the shelf will need to be pulled forward and up.

Back seats definitely have to come out?
That would make it a 2 man job..

Am gonna give it a go now, its cold, but at least it aint raining :D

No, the seats are only a a 10 minute job for one person.

Is your car a manual or auto? Only usually the auto Gear knob is separate from the shaft unlike the manuals.

Maybe because i had another person with me at the time, it took two of us.
I can try a solo effort :)

Its an Auto of course.

If you click the link given above, my new knob looks the same as that, except the knob can come apart from the shaft.

I thought you have the change the shaft because the standard gear knob is bonded onto the shaft, meaning you need a new one?

Quick pic taken on the Mac just for you Spike:

Got the gear knob sorted today, and started the rear shelf.
