This morning I had the unpleasant surprise of finding my new W124 estate has had it's rear door quarter glass smashed.

Anyone any experience as to what to do in this situation? Will regular places Autoglass for instance, be able to replace this glass? Should I take it to a garage? Insurance?

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Darren

Dont think A/glass will work on 1/4 light windows . Garage is your best bet . I would do it myself ,,but all the mechanical items that lift the main glass up and down will need removing jusrt to get to remove the 1/4 glass out . Google this for free manual .-- Mercedes Benz Model 124 M103 Maintenance Manual it will give you some idea looking in the manual what you need to do .

Something will have been taken.
+1 for the garage option. Order it quick.

I’d try one of the breakers, the glass itself should be simple enough to replace but you’ll have to remove the door cards and probably the main window glass and frame/seals etc first.

If you find a good local garage it could be cheaper/quicker than paying the excess on the insurance.

Good luck

Old school windscreens near Chertsey are your friends in this situation. Hopefully as you are in London they are not too far away. They are experts in older cars and really know their stuff.

Went through the insurance in the end. Autoglass came and refitted a new one. Nice guy and no issues.
