Howdy Chaps, do any of you know whether it is possible to change the fuel sender unit without the full removal of the fuel tank? Had mares yesterday trying to get the new one in and it still wasn't possible after taking off the 4 bolts as there wasn't much give either way (the previous owner must have had a go at getting the old sender out as it was chewed to pieces)!
Just wondered whether there was a 'knack' to it - also when you take the fuel sender out there are some pipes that run along the inside at the top - are these breather pipes?
Whole day was a mare yesterday doing the simplest jobs, took my mechanic mate over an hour to get the sump plug off after much chiselling, cutting etc. and the fuel filter bracket was rusted fast it also took a lifetime to get off (eventually had to saw the nut off as a last resort due to the possibility of blowing ourselves up) - the date on the filter showed 1995 so hadn't been changed for a while!!
