My 1995 E280 has the roll-top centre console but the front piece along with the latch piece has broken off.

Is there any way of fixing this? It looks like I could fix the latch piece back on to the front piece of wood with the old staples and maybe some glue for good measure. However, there doesn't seem to be much holding this assembly to the rest of the roll-top. Looks like the fabric backing just glues on to it.

If anyone has any tips on fixing this lot I would be very grateful. Alternatively, what's involved in replacing the whole thing, and how much are they?

Here's what I have at the moment:

I repaired mine with rubber cement.

Contact adhesive may not be flexible enough, depending on brand, although Evo-Stik should be OK. Rubber cement is strong, yet very flexible.

£170! I'll try and repair!

At the risk of sounding stoopid, what's rubber cement? Is there a particular brand to look out for?

I presume this is to fix the fabric backing back on to the black piece. Can I use this to join the wood to the plack piece also or is there something better for this?

i repair these all the time with normal super glue.. but the cement stuff may be better..

Jay is correct in that super glue fixes rubber better than anything else, we use it all day for this type of thing

Do not get it on the polished surface as you cant remove it easily

Awesome, thanks very much guys! :bannana:

I'll try the super glue and see how it goes.
