W124 - SLS Hydraulic Reservoir Leaking
1995 E280 Estate

The hydraulic fluid is weeping down the metal pipe that comes out of the union at the top of the Reservoiron the RHS of the engine conpratment, (as you look at the engine standing at the front facing the vehicle - near side for a RHD car).

Has anyone had this problem and can anyone offer any advice before I "take it to bits"

Thanks

Are you sure the nut isnt just loose? There isnt a lot of pressure there so shouldnt leak really..

I have the same or similar problem on my 1989 124 estate. I have had it repaired twice and am about to get rather annoyed with my Portuguese mechanic as I am about to take it back to him for the third time. I understand from him that it is caused by back preasure comining via the SLS hydraulic pump. The only problem it gives is a mess on the floor where the fluid lands. It has in my case forced the fluid up through the reservoir cap. I think that the root cause may be a fulty level control unit.

This happened to me and I just put new rubber hose/pipe in and tightened it all up.
