Does anybody know size allen socket I'd need for the banjo bolts on the bottom of the SLS spheres on an s124?

I just watched a video on youtube that indicates its 13mm. Thought I'd check as that is about the only size I don't have in any of my socket sets.

It's not 13mm, because I don't have a 13mm and I got it done but it has been some years.

Thanks, I thought it sounded odd. I checked most of the big tool companies, Gedore, Hazet, Stahlwille etc and none of them even a make a 13mm allen socket.

Worst case you can use a 13mm bolt with a couple of nuts on it. Occasionally when i've needed a big allen socket i've done this to good effect. I think my snap on metric allen rack goes 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,17.

Seem to recall it's about 10mm? Maybe even 8...Is it a domed head, can't recall offhand, maybe the thread is 13mm but pretty sure the drive isn't.

s124 SLS [1992] hello Milo777 - spanner size

Milo 777, hello. What then spanner size did you find to loosen the SLS banjo bolt on bottom of the Sphere. [ on the rear suspension]. Or did you find a better solution ? Thanks for any assistance, as Im presently off the road. . Ponton

99% sure its a 10mm allan.

buy it on a socket set - not an allan key. its tight but with a proper socket on it, it will free off quite easily

also well worth getting a 11mm fuel pipe spanner for those other nuts in the system on the end of the pipes. some might require cutting of the pipe and using a socket instead of a spanner.

on re-install be careful not to cross the threads

I totally wussed out and got an indie to do mine. They needed to replace the return pipes from the spheres to the sls valve to make the job easier.

11mm flare nut spanner are also useful for changing brake hoses and not expensive so well worth getting.

yes the small pipes to the SLS valve are tricky to access to remove so cutting and replacing is often easier.

be careful though - MB have superseded the W124 part with a W123 brake pipe now which doesnt have a restricting insert in it. I fed a bit of metal coathanger inside the pipe on mine to do the same job. not had a problem.
