Had my car about ten days so far, one of the electrical faults was the sunroof wouldn't move apart from tilting up - no tilting down, and no sliding either way.
I've been fiddling over the past two evenings, fitted a new switch as the old one was sticky, even tried adjusting the clutch slightly to see if it made a difference - no joy.
I was expecting headliner removal and other fun to get a sunburnt forehead.
Just unclipped the relay pack, and it rattled - taken the relay to bits, and found one of the two solenoid return springs has rusted through and snapped - longnosed pliers formed a new eye from the end coil of the spring, hooked it on, and voila...

That should read
There's probably no Webasto God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your sunroof

isn't it a GREAT feeling when you manage to fix something without spending a penny ?

Enjoy the sunshine !

I have all this fun yet to do. My sunroof on the estate is knackered and 99% closed. I just know I will have to strip out the lining. Will do a how to on it. Not that anyone would be interested ;)

Got the T shirt .

99% of the sunroof mechanism is easily got at by sliding back the inner cover, unless the tray's rotten there's no need to go any further.

To clean out and re-grease the runners ( build up of dirt is usually the cause of slow operation on older cars ) the above is all you need to do - I usually pop it down at the front edge , slide the roof part way back , then withdraw the trim up and out through the aperture .

The other common problem is rotting of the drain channels at the corners of the tray . Of course , the 'proper' way to do this would be to remove the full cassette , but I once did a 'quick fix' on one of my 190E's by simply dropping the headlining at the top edge of a rear door , inserting a piece of plastic tube inside the rubber drain tube and into the tray where it was rotten then sealing all around with a hot-melt glue gun . I know it will eventually rot again but two years on still OK (fingers crossed) .

Just got to replace the hinge retainers and springs for the pop up wind deflector on the 126 now ( they were broken when I got the car and the deflector just lying loose ! ) .

YES! :D

All greased and lubed up now, (No, no, NO  the sunroof, the sunroof...)

Smooth as silk. I'd been told it hadn't moved for three years :)

Oh, and what is this mythical creature 'the sunshine' of which you speak?
