A friend is collecting his new (to him) W124, E300 Diesel next week. (I want one now). We have a few little jobs to do but need some advice please:

1-How do you remove the 'slab' on the driver's door?

2-We need to replace both front indicator corners. Do they just unclip like they did on my W202?

3-How do you remove/refit the rear view mirror (broken plastic surround)

Any advice and pics greatly appreciated. TIA

Jim.

What is the 'slab'? Do you mean the armrest?
To remove trim on mine, pre facelift manual windows, slide up plastic on window winder, winder slides off. Pull out the plastic trim around the door handle, undo the bolt behind and the philips screw on the side of the door. Unscrew the door lock pins, then carefully prise he trim loose. You will be lucky if no plastic clips break!

The front indicators are easily removed, just bend the holding plastic pins back slightly.

By the 'slab' I mean the wide trim at the bottom of the doors on the outside. IE: Slab doors

For slab read cladding.

Unscrew the phillips screw at the bottom trailing edge of door. Pull the cladding from the seven fasteners along bottom edge of door. It makes a hideous cracking sound. Use a wooden spatula to prize them off.

When the bottom seven have been released, pull/slide the panel rearwards along the door for about an inch. The upper fasteners are located in a sort of keyhole arrangement so the panel will simply be released.

Refitting is straightforward reversal - locate the upper keyholes, slide forward, then bang in the lower fasteners using the side of your fist and replace the screw and washer.

Mirror, just pull the thing hard and it will come off.
Indicators just unclip.
Not sure about the 'slab' though

As above

The rear mirror can be a bit of a struggle. use ample force and it will give way. :thumb:

THE FRONT INDICATORS are removed by pulling them in a forward direction. Before doing this slacken off the round white? wheel which clamps the U shaped bracket. You will find them just inside the inner wings in the very front corners.

That's on a 190E. W124 just has a spring clip

Push from inside the bonnet and the lens will suddenly spring out, land on your foot & break. Meanwhile your pushing hand will disappear inside the wheelarch and you'll jab the tips on a couple of fingers on something hard

Well that's what always happens to me...
