Help !
Throttle Body needed.

I'm in a bit of a desperate situation and I need someone in UK who can help.

Do you have a non-ASR Throttle Body with Cruise Control that will fit 1994/95 c124 E320 ?
See the attached images for reference.
VDO Part No# : A0001415725, 408.226/4/1

That part is ubiquitous and was fitted in w124, R129, w140 adn w210.

In the first instance I'm looking to borrow it for a few days.
This is for quick testing purposes.
The body won't to be fully installed, only plugged in for 10 mins testing.

I lost Idle control.
The car idle revs at 1200 rpm and my Throttle Body won't perform a reset to self-calibrate and recognise its internal travel limits.

I need to eliminate variables here.
To know whether it's the Throttle Body or the T-LLR command module that's gone bad I need to plug in another working Throttle Body for 10mins and see whether that performs a reset.

I'm not looking for a freebie.
I will happily pay round-trip postage plus a reasonable amount for 'renting' the TB for a few days.
I will not tamper with the loaned Body in any way.

If it turns out my Throttle Body is bad - I will want to purchase and keep the loaner unit, if that's an option.

Please PM me if you're in UK and can help.

Thanks

I don't even borrow staple guns - it just isn't worth the hassle. These things are best done together where the money changes hands - hopefully twice.

At 94/95 its right in the dodgy wiring insulation zone. The internal wiring being shielded from heat and mechnical movement seems to survive but the wiring from the TB to its connector may well be bad. Carefully opening the insulation sheath will reveal if that's the problem.

He didn't mention that in his original post ?? Did he repair it himself or is this a reconditioned unit he has some doubts about?

Thanks to all for comments and suggestions, especially @d w124 and @wu56Shoozz.

For now, after some new developments today suffice to say I called off the search for another TB.
It now seems most likely there's a fault in the T/LLR unit.
I was lucky to have found and purchased one earlier today.
It is now on its way to the shop where my c124 is still at.

For those interested, here's the back-story :

My Coupe went in for a total wiring rebuild of both Throttle Body and top & bottom engine harnesses.
The guy doing the rebuild using Formula 1 and aerospace techniques and materials is Simon at www.sileck.co.uk who is a total pro with years in the business .
The new wiring will outlive not only the car but me, easily.

After the rebuild, on back-assembly, the car would only work in Limp Mode.
Several checks and re-checks of wiring and repeat examination/installation of Throttle Body all returned no gain.

The Throttle Body would not perform a reset procedure and there appeared to be no dialog at all happening between it and the T/LLR control unit.

The Throttle Body was the first suspect, hence the initial message.
Eventually, through expert external help and more testing the T/LLR unit is now isolated as the most likely culprit.

Miraculously, I managed to find and purchase a like-for-like one earlier today.
It will be delivered to Sileck on Tuesday, fitted, and hopefully all will be good again.

I will post updates as the situation unfolds.

03 July update :

After fitting the replacement T/LLR unit the car run perfect first time.
The Limp Mode went away, the throttle body reset correctly, and the revs dropped down to nominal after short time idling from cold.

I made the 2.5 hrs journey from Sileck's shop in New Romney back to North-West London with zero issues.
Cruise Control works as expected as do all other engine management systems.
I will look into getting the original T/LLR unit repaired and will keep it as a spare.

After additional day of urban cycle I’m very happy and consider this case closed.

Thank you to all who contributed help and advise here.

Happy days !

:)
