Ive bought a W124 to use over winter. Everything seems ok but what I have noticed is the throttle has waaaaay too much play in it before the car moves.....is the excessive travel a W124 'thing' or can the biting point be easily adjusted somewhere?

Thanks

Adjust the throttle cable & kickdown cable and the car will be much nicer to drive. The adjusters are at the end of the cables on the linkage

Some cars do suffer from sticky throttle operation as well - lubricating the linkage and replacing the throttle cable can help

If the car has ASR be careful not to pull on the throttle cable end to rev the car, and make sure at least some gap/slack is maintained, otherwise it will go into limp home mode.

It can be adjusted, but you must hear a click when accelerator is fully released near throttle linkage - the throttle off switch. That's there for engine management and gearbox to know you released throttle.

Thanks chaps, I had a fiddle with the adjuster today its not perfect but its better. I might just replace the cable anyway.
