Sorry to be a dumb-wit but I am about to purchase a set of wheels for my estate w124... Another set having gone wrong on width and ET before.

The wheels are the following: 71/2JX17H2 ET35

Does anyone have this rim width and offset, and if so can you confirm that they fit on a standard unmodified late estate without any hassle?

And what tyres do you have on them? I was imagining 225/45/17 rear and 215/45/17 on the front...

If anyone had a picture too it would put my mind at rest...

Thanks in advance.

I ran a set of these on my old w124 230ce , but with 225/45/17 all round.

Thanks all ... sounds like they are going to work for sure. 225 Conti Sport Contact is what I will go for on your advice.

Next we lower it 30-50 mm ...

This forum rocks for direct experience and practical knowledge. Thanks again.

Until you lower it you will still have the effect of side protrusion.

Then I need to hurry! The wheels will be here, shod and on the car next week ...

I run 18,8J,ET31 with 225/40/18 all round on my W124 CE, lowered 35mm, no problems at all

17 x 7.5" ET35 amg monoblocks with 225/45/17 on mine would occasionally rub the top corner of the cladding where it wraps around the lower rear portion of the front wheel arch. Shimming the lower wing mounts as per the official fitting instructions Index of /docs/mb/W124 mostly fixed things but they'll still touch on particuarly brutal sarf London speedhumps unless you really creep over them. This is one of the reasons why offically you're supposed to limit suspension travel as well, even with the correct ET42 versions- the other reason is that MB have to consider things like a car full of Americans racing over Belgian pave to get to McDonalds before it closes i.e. no contact under any circumstances. Mines got the sport chassis so lower than 'standard' but still a wafty barge. Obviously dropping it in the weeds on stupidly hard springs has kinda the same effect as travel limiters... soooo hard it'll never compress enough for the tyres to kiss the cladding or it's soooo uncomfortable you have to creep down bumpy roads to save your spine [/tongue in cheek]

I run the 16" x 7.5" 8 Holes from W210 on my Coupe with Sportline setup so its not slammed. They are a tight fit as the offsets are not quite right. But I get the stock look I want without too harsh a ride.
I do like the look of the AMG Monoblocks, maybe one day.

So shimming the wings is still a distinct possible part of the fix.

And I will go looking for springs and dampers next. Will probably need to start a new thread on that one unless anyone knows a high quality combo straight away...

Anyone have pics of their 124 with these Aero II wheels?

If fitting Aero 1's you'll need to shim the front wings and perform some surgery on the fillet between the inner and outer wings on the rear, Aero 2's appear to fit no problem, just type W124 E36 estate into Google images.

I have decided to take off the Aero I wheels rather than do the necessary work... Will google E36 shortly...
