Hi all, my W124 300TE's windows have stopped working when the doors are closed (they still work fine when one of the front doors is open). At the same time my front wiper also stopped working. I'm assuming it's related, but I guess could be a coincidence...

From what I can tell from googling it might be an issue with the ignition switch, but I can't find any info as to what the issue is or whether it's fixable.

Can anyone shed any light please, or should I be looking elsewhere e.g a fuse or a relay?

Start with charging the battery .Then check all the fuses . As for the windows the wires go through the rubber coupling from the door to the door frame .Inside it ,,, as the doors are opened wires can get damaged and short out .

Battery is fine, it's got a huge AGM battery that I regularly keep topped up with a trickle charger. I had a look at the fuses, some of them definitely seem iffy. I'm going to replace all of them tomorrow (and clean up the contacts at the same time) and see what happens.

Fuse 7 being out might explain why the car started getting hot in traffic the other day...

I wouldn't have thought the wiring in the door hinge would stop the wipers working though?

Look like most of the fuses, ore white metal , and plastic ,,fit ceramic and brass only .if stuck try your nearest boat chandlers .Also look for bad insulation on the wiring loom ,.

Ended up getting them from Porsche as that was most convenient (had them in stock and as I regularly drive right past the dealership it was easier than finding some online).
P/N's for those that are interested are as follows:
8a - N0171211
16a - N0171214
25a - N0171215

Proper ceramic/copper fuses.

£1.77 each. Probably overpaid with the Porsche tax, but a quick google search wasn’t showing me any that were actually ceramic and didn’t feel like wasting loads of time to save a couple of quid. Not to mention the peace of mind knowing Porsche probably aren’t going to sell rubbish fuses.

I think probably a fair bit of moisture has got into that fuse box to be fair looking at those pics.

I had a similar fuse issue (corrosion) on the boat just recently, so do get the concern regards quality.

Did you ask MB for a price out of interest?

MB would have been my next port of call if Porsche were either stupidly expensive or NLA. But the MB dealership is out of the way for me so Porsche was just easier.

And they're made in Germany!
