Hi I have a got a second hand wishbone for my 300Td and I have purchased new bushes and balljoint to fit to it.
I have 4 bushes, 2 of them have a set of 3 notches at 12oclock and 6 oclock(1243334214)
and the other 2 have 2 notches at 12 oclock and 6 oclock with 1 notch each at 3 and 6 oclock) (1243334314)

From what I can tell the bushes on the existing wishbone (that I am replacing) only have sets of 2 notches.
I understand that I must align the notches the same as the ones already on the car but where would I fit the pair of 3 notch bushes and the pair of 2 notch bushes?

any help would be much appreciated.

I am away form home at the moment but there is an MB instruction on this. Do not follow what is on the car at present it is wrong. I may, just may, have saved the instruction to my laptop.........

Thanks, It probably would have been easier buying the complete wishbone but here I am armed with the new bushes and ball joint so I will be going down the road of rebuilding rather than replacing.

Incidently I have just checked the existing wishbone on the car and the 3 notch bushes are fitted to the rear section and the 2 notch bushes to the front section. so I await your info (if you still have it)

I checked and I do not have a clear location and orientation instruction with me. From memory though what you have sounds correct, but the orientation of the nibs needs to be different. ie the two nib bushes need to be installed 90 different angle to the three nib bushes. The nibs should point to the ground on the front for example (can't remember) and the three nibs point to the seam in the arm itself for example, or the other way around, I can't recall due to age! The lads at 124 Works will tell you I am sure. Sorry I am not at home right now, stuck in the jungles of PNG.

After speaking to the very helpful guys at 124 works it seems you were right, vertical for the front bush and horizontal for the rear. Thanks to all for your help.

Hi MountainRescue,

I am planning to remove the wishbone and replace the bushes and joint on it and then put back.

Could you help me waht should I do and how ? I mean where to start, what to remove first, etc

I am not sure how difficult is to remove the wishbone...I have a W124 e220 '94 model

Cheers
