I have a 1982 380 SEC, which has been experiencing power issues when starting cold. The car starts, but it takes 5 to 10 minutes for the engine to gain enough power to climb a slope. If I try to do it while cold, the car fails to climb and shuts off. When the vehicle has already been used and is at operating temperature, starting the engine requires several attempts. During the first few seconds, it suffers from the same power loss, but it quickly regains strength. I don't know what to do. Help

Kinda sounds like the cold fuel enrichment is absent or fuel flow is insufficient to supply what's needed but I'd expect inlet back-fires and none reported. Hard to say without knowing the fuel system - carbs? Carbs with fuel enrichment circuits or flaps? I also don't know the arrangements for ignition timing control - which could (possibly) be influenced by eg, choke flaps if mechanical distributor. There are members here with knowledge of this car who should be able to better advise but as a start point I'd pull spark plugs when it is running poorly to ascertain if it is getting fuel and if that is too much or too little. For the small job it is, I'd also check ignition timing paying attention to when it shifts in relation to when it's supposed to shift.

Dear Bellow, Thank you for your orientation. The W126 380sec has a Bosh K-Jetronic system and mechanical fuel injection. I changed the distributor a few years ago, and the car has been working fine until now.

Beyond a rough understanding of Bosch K operating principles I'm pretty clueless. What I've seen over the years on this forum is frequent problems with fuel pump relays. Others can better advise if this is likely in your case or not.
I'd still pull spark plugs to get a feel for what's happening in the cylinders.

The cold start injector may not be working. It can be easily removed and directed to a cup to see if it's injecting.

You could also have other issues like the aux air valve being stuck closed. Does it high idle when cold?
