Hi

Anybody know where I can get a 560SEL compressor at a decent price, new or 2nd hand...?

I have been quoted £299 +VAT for a new one....there are some on EBay, not sure of the quality of them though?

Cheers

Thanks for link advice:thumb:

I have one if you still need it? It came off a 1987 560SEL engine with 99k mileage.
I don't need it for the project I'm doing.

Its covered in oil from a leaking cam cover gasket, but your welcome to have it, along with pipes, bracket etc..

Give us a shout if you want it, I'm in Croydon area, so you'll need to pick it up.

Cheers

Appreciate the offer, however, needs to be a working R134a unit, otherwise I back where I started!

Thanks

Steve

Try some of the specialist breakers - Mercman ; Boss Parts in Leeds ; Retrodave111 on here , anywhere but Drossfields .

Otherwise try to find an ac specialist who might rebuild your existing compressor .

I had a spare one out of a 420SE I broke , but all the spares went in the boot of my 500 when I let it go .

The W126 used R12 when introduced , their systems would be converted to use R134 so original units will all be R12 and may need seals changed .

An R134 compressor from a later model may fit ?

I don't think it makes any differencce. I had the system in my W126 converted to R134 back in 2000. It's still on the original compressor and still blows ice cold. It has been serviced, re-gassed and had various a new parts replaced when required though. On top of my head, just the receiver/dryer, condenser & a pressure switch.

Yes the compressor doesn't care which refrigerant is used. Would need flushing though as the different oils are not compatible. Mine was converted before my ownership and still on the original compressor. (Gave out recently though and replaced with new which was identical.)

560SEL AC Compressor..

No worries steve, it's here gathering dust, if you change your mind.
