W126 carpet removal How?

W126 420 SEL
The common water ingress problem has left me with no aternative: the carpet must come out!

The trouble is I cant see a way to free it from the trim clips on the interior door sills, I dont want to prise the trim away and risk breaking them.
Im sure there is an easy way, its just that I dont know it.

you need to take the strips off at the base of the doors, then all will be revealed.

I am afraid this is the problem: I cant see how to remove these strips

Progress has been minimal however, as I cant remove the back seat or the central console

W126 carpet removal

We are making progress (slowly)
All I need to know now is where are the holding bolts for the centre console?
Does the radio need to come out before the console can be removed?
Anything else to come out?
