W126 parts in a W116

Hi there, I've found a really nice W116, but the interior is cloth and I want leather; I also found a really cheap w126, with a cracking leather interior. I was thinking of buying both and transplanting the W126 interior into the W116.

OK, just say this is possible, and brilliant if it is, but what about the rest of the W126, are there many more parts of this car I can use if needed? Just thinking that the W126 engine would be more efficient.

Cheers :0)

A 126 interior won't fit a 116.

In fact very little in interchangable.

Leather's over rated. It's what the hire help used to sit on. I wouldn't be put off from buying the car because it has cloth or velour.

You could always get the interior retrimmed if need be.

Options to retrim the SEL450

Hi again, I got back in touch with the seller of the SEL450, after taking a break from my search (the research was taking up a lot of time!), and he informed me that the interior is in fact very shabby; the rest of the car was restored but they left the interior so the next buyer could choose the colour and trim they wanted. While this in itself is appealing, I want to keep the budget down by sourcing a second-hand interior; or has anyone heard of these guys:

Mercedes W116 280S, 280SE, 300SD, 450SE, 450SEL & 6.9 Sedan interior parts Anyone similar in the UK?

Thanks again! By the way, I'm visiting the seller soon, all I have is a small photo so far; but he has a photo-log of the restoration etc. Fingers crossed! :0)
